UHLS Interlibrary Loan Service
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service provided to patrons and staff of the Upper Hudson Library System (UHLS). ILL supplements the UHLS library catalog by providing books and journal articles not available locally from UHLS member libraries. UHLS coordinates both borrowing (for patrons and staff of most member libraries) and lending (to libraries outside of UHLS from most member libraries).
Note to Member Library Patrons: This is not a public request interface and can only be used by ILL staff at UHLS member libraries. Please contact your home library to request books or journal articles not available in any UHLS member library. To request items from a UHLS member library, please use the library catalog.
ILL Requests:
UHLS makes ILL requests via OCLC. In addition, any member library that wishes to manage their own requests via CDLC and NYSL can do—see below. We are happy to help– for questions, assistance, and detailed instructions, please contact [email protected].
- OCLC Requests: Libraries outside the Capital District
UHLS handles OCLC requests for libraries that are not OCLC subscribers. Please see the UHLS Guide to Interlibrary Loan for details.
-
CDLC (LiNX) Requests: Libraries in the Capital District (MVLS, SALS, Schools, and Academics)
Create your own LiNX account in order to request items through the catalog or to answer other libraries ILL requests. CDLC’s LibGuide details instructions for all ILL library staff. - New York State Library (NYSL) Requests:
Any library in New York State can create their own ILL account with NYSL and request from them directly. See NYSL ILL guidelines for more information about their ILL services, and go here to create your library’s account.
