Your Library Card

Residents of the Voorheesville Central School District and many non-residents are eligible for a borrower's card free of charge. When applying, please bring identification verifying your name and your permanent mailing address. Children must be in Kindergarten to apply and their applications up to the age of 14 must be signed by the child and a parent or guardian.

Using Your Library Card
When patrons apply for a card, they may borrow up to 4 items immediately. Once the card is activated, they may borrow as many items as they choose. The card is non-transferable. Please remember to bring it to the library.

Your Account
You may access your account by logging into the library's online catalog. Go to www.voorheesvillelibrary.org and click on the Catalog button.

Email Address
If your email address is in our database, you can be notified of items on hold or overdue by requesting that service at the circulation desk.

Return of Materials

A book drop is located to the left of the main entrance. This may be used anytime. Most items, with the exception of interlibrary loan materials, may be returned to another library.

Home Book Delivery
If you are restricted to your home or if you are unable to use the library during the winter months, please call 765-2791 and ask for the Reference Desk. Greg Bobish will return your call so you can arrange to have library materials such as books, videos, audiobooks, music and more delivered and/or picked up at your door. It is free and custom tailored to your preferences.

Reference

The Reference Desk is staffed by a librarian during all library hours to assist you with finding information or materials. In addition to helping people in the library, we are happy to respond to requests by telephone, E-mail or Fax. Our email address is: voorefq@uhls.lib.ny.us.

Reserves

Books, CD's, books on tape and videos can be placed on reserve if they are signed out when you request them. A staff member will phone you to let you know when the materials are available and the library will hold them for one week.

Interlibrary Loan

Materials that are not in our collection can often be borrowed from other libraries. We can obtain materials from local libraries or conduct a national search if necessary. Ask at the Reference Desk for details.

Storyhours

Storyhours are open to children of all ages and are scheduled on weekdays throughout the year. Please consult the library calendar or ask us for dates and times.

Summer at the Library

Fun and exciting Summer Reading Club programs motivate young readers to enjoy the library all summer long. Our selection of musicians, crafts and performers makes the library a cool place to be on hot summer afternoons. Other summer events include movies at Friday Films & Fun and evening family time with Together at Twilight.

Community Room

The Community Room is available to non-profit organizations or individuals for meetings and programs during regular library hours. Please speak to the Reference Librarian to reserve the room.

Library Programs

Quilting, painting, writing workshops and live performances are just a few examples of the enriching and enjoyable programs offered throughout the year. Make sure to read the Bookworm to find out about upcoming events, or look for information in the local newspapers and in the library.

Bookworm

Published every two months, this library newsletter describes upcoming programs, highlights materials in the library collection and lets you know what is happening at your library. The Bookworm is mailed to all residents of the school district and can be sent to any interested patron upon request.

Public Computers

Two personal computers are available in the main reading room for public use. Programs include word processing, CD-ROM software and other fun and useful applications. You can reserve computer time at the Reference Desk after reading and signing our computer use policy statement. Print charge is 10 cents per page.

Internet

The library provides public access to the Internet during all library hours.

Films

A collection of movies, non-fiction videos and children's movies is available for loan. New titles are always being added to keep the collection interesting and enjoyable.

Audiobooks

Choose from popular and classical works of fiction and non-fiction in both the adult and youth collections.

Photocopy Machine

A black and white copier is available for public use in the main reading room of the library. Copies are 10 cents per page.

Fax

The library Fax machine can be used to send or receive local, national and international faxes. Please consult the Fax Sheet for policy and charges.
