Trustee Training Program
Public library Board members need information. They need to know how libraries and library systems in
the state are chartered and funded, what their responsibilities are as trustees of these institutions, and
how they can help libraries serve their communities.
UHLS offers a variety of resources for trustees, including a web site, materials for loan, and on-site workshops
that can be scheduled at a date and time convenient for the Board's members.
UHLS OFFERS TRUSTEES
Individualized workshops: Choose from a menu of training sessions that are tailored to the specific needs of the library Board, and are held at the library at a day and time convenient to all Board members.
Institutes: UHLS supports and encourages trustee participation in the programs offered by partner agencies such as the New York State Association of Library Boards (NYSALB) and the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA).
NYLA Annual Conference: The New York Library Association frequently meets in Saratoga Springs. UHLS supports and encourages trustee attendance in the programs offered at the conference.
