Library Cards

Troy Public Library cards are available to residents and to anyone who works or attends school in Rensselaer or Albany counties.  To get a card, you will need two forms of identification. One of those forms of identification must contain your current address.  A current driver's license, a rent receipt, checks with printed address, and postmarked mail are examples of proof of address. If necessary a postcard can be mailed to you for verification.

Children under twelve need a parent's signature to get a library card. Children are limited to checking out ten items at once.

Patrons under 18 years of age may check out videos only if accompanied by a parent.

Troy Public Library is part of the Upper Hudson Library System.  Your Troy Public Library card is accepted at most public libraries in Rensselaer and Albany counties.

Items may generally be renewed once. To renew by telephone, you will need the library card number to which the materials are charged.  Items with a waiting list, overdue items, and some Interlibrary Loan materials are not renewable. Online renewal is available through the library catalog.
