Book Discussion Group

story

The Stephentown Library Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, November 5.  They will discuss the book Unless by Carol Shields.

Shortlisted for both the Booker Prize and the Orange Prize, Unless is a story about a mother’s grief and pain over her daughter, who is not dead, or on drugs, but IS, by choice, living on the streets.  Norah just suddenly dropped out of college and is now on the streets. Reta, the mother, is an author and a naturally happy person engaged in a calm and uneventful life.  The story evolves from this scenario and is poignant and thought provoking.

The meetings are held in the Community Room at the Stephentown Memorial Library, Main Street, Stephentown, New York, from noon to 1:00  p.m.  Bring a lunch if you like.  Copies of the book are available at the library desk.  New readers are always welcome.  For more information, call 518-733-5750.
