deaf is available for a two-week loan period.
Services and special
collections:
- Large Print
and audiocassette collections at all locations.
- Internet access
and IBM-compatible word processing computers are available by reservation
at main and Lansingburgh for all Troy Public Library cardholders.
- Bi-Folkal Kits
are multimedia packages containing program manuals, slides and/or
videos, and items relating to specific themes. They are useful for
programming, especially for senior citizens and classes studying American
life 40-75 years ago. They can be scheduled for use on specific dates
and are usually loaned for a one week period. Available themes are:
Remembering County Fairs, Remembering the Depression, Remembering
Farm Days, Remembering Fashion, Remembering Home, Remembering the
Home Front, Remembering Music, Remembering Pets, Remembering School
Days, Remembering Train Rides, Remembering Worklife, Remembering Summertime.
- At the Main
Library: Troy Room Local History and Genealogy Collection contains
hundreds of books, pamphlets, and other local history and genealogy
documents. Works by local authors, Troy City Directories, local newspapers,
family histories, and census records are all part of this valuable
collection.
We have applications
for the following services:
- Books- by-Mail
A free library service for people who cannot get to the library because
they are homebound or disabled. This service is also available to
those who live far from a local library or who cannot use a local
library during the hours it is open.
- New York State
Talking Book and Braille Library A New York State Education Department
service that loans Braille books and magazines, books and magazines
on cassette, and cassette players postage free by mail.
- RISE A closed
circuit radio information service for those who cannot read regular
print because of blindness or low vision.
