News from Sand Lake Town Library

New Audio/Visual Materials Drop Box!                                                                                                                           The Friends of the Library  purchased a new, larger book return in May 2007.  Our blue book return has been converted to a drop box for audio visual materials, including videos and DVD's.  Previously, these materials had to be returned inside the Library to prevent damage.

Library Offers Wireless Internet Access!                                                                                                                   Beginning July 1, the Sand Lake Town Library has wireless internet access available.  In response to patron requests, the Friends of the Sand Lake Town Library have made this service possible.  Wireless users are required to read and sign the Library's Internet Policy, if they have not already done so. Our thanks to the Friends of the Library for allowing us to offer this service to library users!

Digital Books!
Beginning January 2006, all members of the Upper Hudson Library system will be able to download digital books on their home computers. Click on the link to set it up- it requires  two free software programs.  The audio files are compatible with Windows systems only, but the text files can be downloaded with Adobe Reader. You can listen to audio books on your computer or MP3 player (but not I-pods), and read books on your computer or PDA.  Call Sand Lake Town Library if you have any questions- 674-5050.

Library Switches To Telecirc Notification!
Patrons will  now receive an automated phone message when request items are on hold at the library.  Due to the increasing volume of requests coming in daily, we have made the change so that our staff can provide better service.  Most  libraries in our System have been using this service successfully for several years.   If you prefer to receive email, you can ask a staff member to change your account, or you can do it online.  To change to email notification, go to our catalog.  Click on "my account" and type in your card number and PIN number.  Click on "profile" and move down to "change notification method".  It will ask for your information again, then you can click on "email" as a choice.
