Queen Nur

Queen Nur Following the tradition of the West African Djalimuso (Griotte), Queen Nur (Karen Abdul-Malik) spins uplifting folktales and historical stories from past and present. Queen performs at venues from the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, to Children-At-Risk Centers and New York City parks. Her performances are deemed "energetic and full of spirit." Queen performs Artist-in-Residency programs throughout the year. Her family CD Sweet Potato Pie has garnered awards and rave reviews. She has also produced a two-set CD, Live and Storified, that was recorded at the historical Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center in Camden, NJ.
