We've added 2 programs!

ARTIST TRADING CARD WORKSHOP for art enthusiasts grade 6 through adult.  Make 2.5x3.5-inch original and
limited-edition artworks  in any medium you enjoy, and swap them like sports trading cards!  We'll provide raw materials.  Ravena, at the Library                                   Saturday, July 11, 10 a.m. to noon.

TWEEN & TEEN is for kids 10 and up.
It is for the restless and the non-readers in your family, as well as creative kids who are looking for
summer activities.  Led by Colleen Wolfe, our newest Library Assistant, the group will take over our Annex
twice a week for projects that will excite and challenge them.   No sign-up needed!

 LIBRARY BABIES offers games, rhymes, story, and song for children under age 2 and their caregivers
on Fridays at 9:30 at the Library.

 ROMP & READ language and play programs are for toddlers and preschoolers.

POSITIVELY PRESCHOOL STORIES AND CRAFTS moves to 11 a.m. on Thursdays for the summer for children Preschool through Kindergarten age at the Library. 

BE CREATIVE  is the theme of 2009 SUMMER READING CLUB.

The Library brings books and creative activities to the town recreation programs.
Families also can join the Summer Reading  Club independently at the Library.

Our Selkirk site has been combined with Bethlehem's Glenmont site for this summer.
Bethlehem Public Library will visit there.  We'll be back in action next summer!

 YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP guides children ages 9 and up, entering 4th grade or   above,
who would like to write, illustrate and bind an original story.

Sign up for either Session 1 or Session 2.   Register by calling 756-2053.
 

Session 1 will be from July 7 to July 22, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Session 2 will be from July 28 to August 12, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The annual Young Writers Reception will be on Wednesday, August 12, at 7 p.m.

 CHESS CLUB FOR KIDS will meet at the Library from 4 to 5:30 on Wednesdays.
Beginners and intermediates, mixed-age group – the more, the merrier! 

WAGGING TALES offers individual reading practice to keep reading skills fresh.
Call and we will match your child with a trained therapy dog and handler.  

TEEN WRITING GROUP will meet throughout the summer.  We’re planning field trips and other activities.
Judy Felsten debuts as session leader on Fridays, July 10 & 17, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Linda Miller returns on Friday, August 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.,  to lead more experiments with language, form, and voice.
If you are writing on your own, or would like to be but can’t find the time, try this.  The group is very welcoming.

RCS Community Library serves residents of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District.  The library provides access to books, audio books, movies, music recordings, and computers for games, word processing and the Internet.  Wireless Internet access is available.  The Library's membership in the Upper Hudson Library System gives patrons access to the resources of all the public libraries in Rensselaer and Albany Counties and access to interlibrary loan service.
