  • Exhibit by local artist
  • Robert Renner has an exhibit of his watercolor paintings in the Petersburgh Public Library during the months of April thru June.  Mr. Renner, who has resided in Petersburgh since his retirement as a Principal in a school district on Long Island, has been painting watercolors and oils for the past 12 years.

    Bob’s paintings are usually of scenes of both local locations as well as scenes from his travels in the U.S. and foreign countries.  There are also a few portraits included.

    He has studied with several artists both in the local area and where he attended Elderhostels throughout the United States.  Bob, who is a member of the Colonie Art League of the Capital District, has also had his paintings displayed in the Albany and Western Mass. areas.

  • Annual plant, bake, and book sale

    The Petersburgh Public Library will have its annual plant, bake, and book sale on Saturday, May 31 from 9 until noon. Donations of plants and baked goods will be greatly appreciated. Money raised will go toward the anticipated completion of renovations this summer.
  • Story Hour
  • Pre-school story hour will continue on Tuesday May 20 at 10:00 AM  at which time we will break for the summer.   After the summer break story hour will resume on Tuesday, September 9.

  • Summer Reading Program
  • The Summer Reading Program, “Catch the Reading Bug,” will begin in early July with programs for children of all ages. Registration begins on June 13 at the Library. Further information will be forth coming in the coming weeks.

  • Book Discussion Group
  • The book discussion group is reading “Omoo” by Herman Melville. Copies of the book will be available at the library for everyone interested in joining the group. The next meeting will be Monday, June 9 at 7:30 PM. at which time Ingrid Schaaphok will lead a discussion of the book.  We will then take a couple of months off and resume on September 8 with a discussion of  Evelyn Waugh’s book, “Brideshead Revisited.”
