Upper
Hudson Library System offers Coordinated Outreach Library Services directly
and through their member libraries to New Yorkers who are most in need
and who often are not regular library users. We provide programs that
assist individuals whose needs cannot be met by traditional library
services by cooperating with county jails, nursing homes, youth homes,
community centers, and mental health facilities. Services include large
print books, assistance to the adult learner, and interpreter services.
Our target audience includes:
Senior citizens
People with disabilities or who are temporarily disabled
Assisted living centers
Nursing homes and retirement centers
Jail inmates
People in shelters and transition homes
Members of ethnic minorities
People who are educationally disadvantaged
The unemployed or underemployed
Those who do not have access to a library due to geographical location
