Local History Links

Albany County Hall of Records
Provides access to county records, naturalization indexes, publications and special collections such as the Erastus Corning Papers, and genealogy links.

American Association for State and Local History
Includes state, regional and national resource links and links to state historical societies.

Berne Historical Project  
Categories are: cemeteries, churches, census, vital records, military, maps and local.  Under local there is a brief timeline of Berne beginning in 1629.  This is an on-going project.

Capital District Library Council DHP: Directory of Repositories
The CDLC Documentary Heritage Program serves repositories of historical documents in a ten-county area of Northeastern New York. The Directory can be searched alphabetically by name of repository, geographically by county and by subject.

Documentarian
The Mohawk Valley Library Association (MVLA) is a public library system serving 14 member libraries in the four counties of Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady, and Schoharie, New York. "The Documentarian" is an exhibition of 70 representative images, designed for the World Wide Web. Using text based and digitized electronic content, the site highlights historical and genealogical materials from the collections of seven of our fourteen member libraries: Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery, Gloversville Free Library, Fort Plain Free Library, Johnstown Public Library, Middleburgh Library, Northville Public Library, and the Margaret Reaney Memorial Library (St. Johnsville).

Inventory of Public Access Systems at Historical Records
Provides access to the repositories in the New York State Documentary Heritage Program. The site contains a list of finding aids, on-line systems, inventories and other historical records repositories in New York State.

The Rensselaer County Historical Society
An educational organization that connects local history and heritage with contemporary life through tours, exhibitions, educational programs and an extensive local history research library.

Troy's RiverSpark Visitor Center: Annotated Bibliography
An annotated bibliography of several hundred books and articles about the history, industry and architecture of the Hudson-Mohawk region. The RiverSpark homepage is at:  http://www.troyvisitorcenter.org

Schenectady County History Resources
Comprehensive site with links to history, pictures, city background, timeline, family links, census, church records, railroad history, vital records, repositories, military records, newspapers, and extensive links outside the region.
