The richest person in the world - in fact all the riches in the world - couldn't provide you with anything like the endless, incredible loot available at your local library.

Berne Public Library

Small but mighty – that’s the best description of the Berne Public Library! Nestled in the hills of Albany County, this 855 square foot library is big in its community. In a recent month the library offered four programs for children, three programs for adults, one program for families, and built a float to grace a town holiday parade. Library manager Judy Petrosillo and youth services guru Kathy Stempel make the most of the 25 hours each week the library is open!

Berne Public Library is also recognized among its peers for excellence. At Upper Hudson’s recent annual dinner, Berne won both the Rural Library Program Award and a Volunteer of the Year Award for helper Matthew Graff. The winning program, centered on solar cars, targeted middle school boys. Kids built and then raced their own model cars powered by solar energy. Library staff showcased the library's resources on alternative energy, introducing kids and parents to a new and exciting way of thinking about energy.

Berne Public Library is a reminder that great things come in small packages!
