Daniel Store Museum
Church Street, Hoosick Falls, NY

Daniel Store Museum

The Famous Daniel Store was originally built in 1860 by a pharacist as Peters' Drug Store. Established in the 1880's, the Famous Daniel Store was a center of not only consumer mercantile trade, but also a resource for farmers, tradesmen and journeymen. As a result, the museum's collection of hundreds of goods and wares are different than any other general store of today, because all of the items are original period pieces, not reproductions.

A general store of the 1800s had almost everything you would need for your home except for food. For example, you might purchase cook stoves, cigars, oil lamps, toothbrushes, lye soap, pipes and medicine. You could even get your mail there.
