Greenbush Reformed Church

The Greenbush Reformed Church was erected in 1786. It was a small wooden building painted yellow an for years it was known as the "Old Yellow Church." Later it was called the Reformed Protestant Low Church of Greenbush.

A new church was built in 1860. It is known as the Greenbush Reformed Church and is located across from the East Greenbush Fire Department Main Station on Hays Road.

Grave of Edmund Charles Genet

Edmund Charles Genet, one of East Greenbush's earlier residents, is buried in the cemetery behind the Greenbush Reformed Church.

Genet was born January 8, 1763 at Versailles, France. He came to this country as Minister Plenipotentiary and Consulate General of the French Republic. He later became an American citizen. In 1794 Genet married Cornelia Clinton, daughter of Governor George Clinton.

Genet was best known as a scientific farmer. He died July 14, 1834.
