I Spy My Hometown - Brunswick, NY


	This site was the first European settlement Inside Rensselaer County. Where Henry Morrison settled To give his bounty. The house had a Federal style charm As did the hen house, granary And working barn.
Though the pulpit was not yet in place, In 1861, it was torn off its frame, And a new church was built in its space. It's always been called the White Church, Some people when asked "Why?" have said, "Why what a silly question that is... Because that's what it's always been painted!"
	It was an unforgettable day On the seventh day of May. In 1911, while awaiting a Baptismal meeting, This edifice burned because of faulty heating. The bells rang out As the people did shout And the horses pulled the Bussy Steamer there To the awful site of this Eagle Mills nightmare But the wind was blowing as though running a race As thirteen buildings burned, N ow gone without a trace.
This house was built in Eagles Mills in 1857, Owned by Frank and then his son, But now they're up in heaven. Four pillars stand in front, Straight without a tilt. In the city of Mt. Vernon, New York Is exactly where it was built.
	This house was built upon a hill in 1876. It was built by Joachion who came from Canada, And did not build it with sticks. He did not stay there very long, He left in 1891. Now the Zankels own this house because, Ray and Anna are done.
Chords of music filled the air, A preacher said a prayer, On Labor Day in 1919, When this was dedicated. It once was made a fountain, But then that fountain broke, So now it is a quite old plaque, Telling tales of heroes and folk.
	The old school is named after our 20th president. But teach at this school he didn't. The school was built in 1881. The same time this president was done. It was built by Joachim Filleau. Before me 'n you. Now this is an historic site, Where people can see it day and night. It serves a different purpose Than what it did before. Now its purpose is to check out books, Do research and much more.
A place to look for the oldest stone, Of some who have come and gone. It's where Joachion Filieau can be found A resting place for all of those Who called our town their own.
	Once a stately resting station, This place became the most haunted cemetery In the nation. This is one of the scariest places in the world. It has scared many boys and girls. It used to be a beautiful place. Now some people made it a disgrace. But this cemetery still looks new. Even with all of the stuff its been through.
This little structure crossed, A powerful creek From one end of town to the other, It used to be covered, But now it is not, The memorial stands sentinel at its end.
	Built by Walter D. McChesney as a sawmill, Later operated by Joe Green, It stands next to Quakenkill Creek. The dam was away several hundred feet. Much of this building has been replaced, But the floors are still intact. This building was busy and can be traced As a mill for wool and grist.
This old building used to house, A post office and convention hall. People would come and have a good shout, Greet neighbors, buy groceries, get mail, And have a very grand ball.
	This large white house in Eagle Mills Was built in 1798 among rolling hills. On July 11, 1816 -- a short time later, The house was sold to Philip Dater. He paid $800 dollars and not another dime. A substantial sum at the time. Important history from this house came Such as being a part of The Underground Railroad fame.
This used to be a creamery company. That made a decent amount of money. It made excellent butter. That you could give To your best friend's mutter. Now this is an historic building. Where people are now living.
	A quite small schoolhouse With not much room, That many attended From September to June. It was made in 1830 out of brick, But 122 years later, Was closed with a flick.
