I Spy My Hometown - Bethlehem, NY


	Bones of a half-buried boat And a stone, tell tales, of this place, Where barges, ships and steamers, left their watery trails.
This building stands to remind you and me, of a very important part of early history. Though the passenger station is gone, the turning wheels still sing their song. Toot! Toot!
	Bricks of yellow at your feet, And an old bridge made of concrete.
Named for the Norwegians, Who did seek, A good life on the banks, Of this beautiful creek.
	This stately building, With pillars tall, Has known many uses, From hotel to Town Hall.
Movie makers found this fancy Victorian, The perfect pick, To make Kennedy's famed novel, Into a flick.
	This place honors those who left our town, To play a part in history. From Revolutionary times to present day, Where their hearts stood is not a mystery.
Where once we paid to travel a plank road, We are now drawn there for pie a la mode.
	Long ago a place where farmers, Would meet and buy their stores. Now the community often gathers, For fun within its doors.
Reading, writing, arithmetic, In this building of red brick. Where once a place of learning had been, Now there is a museum within.
	Old stained glass windows look upon, Farmland and homes from high on a hill. While pencil-pointed tower keeps watch, Over forest preserve so still.
A farm of great beauty, not far from a park does sit. Once tended by Revolutionary soldier Britt.
	Old Dutch home and cemetery, Stand amid a grove still, Down a winding lane, Near the Hudson and Vlomankill.
Once a tavern for travelers to rest, With fields where soldiers would train. Now this brick house remains viewer, Of a traffic crossing domain.
	This rescued 1720 house, Is being carefully restored. Early Dutch construction and life, Archeologists have explored.
