November 20, 2003 Meeting Notes
Attendees: Denise Coblish, Zina Shevchik, Mary Trev Thomas, Maria
Buhl, Sue Dague, Meg Maurer, Judie Harren, Jo-Ann Benedetti.
Instant Messaging: Denise Coblish had prepared a presentation
on computer mediated communication. There are many advantages to
using instant messaging: community awareness, the ability to have
multiple conversations, a feeling of immediacy, multi-device compatibility,
speed, and large files can be transmitted. It is used in dorms,
businesses, telecommuting, for meetings and planning sessions.
Using IM may be the communication tool that replaces email. Copies
of her presentation and the handouts are available by emailing
Rachel.
2004 Adult Services Advisory Council Meetings: We discussed the
schedule of meetings and programs for the coming year, assigned
host libraries, and selected topics. Each host library will contact
Rachel with confirmation of a date and time.
