Congratulations Jean! The Hudson-Mohawk Library Association is pleased to announce the 2005 Distinguished Service Award. Jean K. Sheviak, Executive Director of the Capital District Library Council (CDLC) will receive the award at the April 29th Dinner Program of the Association. Jean has provided exemplary service for CDLC since 1998. She has also served on numerous committees and taken leadership roles in NYLA's Academic and Special Libraries Section for which she received their 2001 Spirit of Librarianship Award; the Southern Adirondack Library System / Mohawk Valley Library System Joint Automation Committee; the Academic Libraries Directors Conferences; the Schenectady County Community College Library Advisory Committee; NYLINK; ALA's Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies; and others. She has also been active publishing articles and doing presentations. The Hudson Mohawk Library Association was founded in 1944 to provide leadership for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services and the information profession. The HMLA Distinguished Service Award has been given annually since 1985 to an individual, institution, or group to recognize outstanding contributions to the information profession
