Group of children at StorytimeDrop-in Storytime - 2 - 5 years (babies and toddlers are welcome).
Mondays at 6:30pm
Thursdays at 10:30am and 1:00pm
Fridays at 10:30am

Drop-In Storytimes are a fun way for families or children with their caregivers to spend time together listening to stories, singing songs, and creating crafts. Drop-in storytimes are open to children of all ages and require no registration. Come join us for a morning, afternoon, or evening of storytime fun!

Caregivers must attend.

Crossgates Family Storytime
Wednesdays at 11:00am at Crossgates Mall

Join us in Borders at Crossgates Mall on Wednesday mornings beginning February 6, 2008 as we read books, sing songs, and have some fun! This is a drop-in storytime program open to children of all ages with their caregivers.

High School Musical 2
Saturday, May 10, 12:30pm

Join us to watch High School Musical 2 on the BIG SCREEN! Bring a friend and sing along! Rated TV-G.

Bike Safety Workshop
Saturday, May 31, 10:30am

May is Bike Month! Join us and members of the New York Bicycling Coalition on May 31 at GPL for some outdoor and indoor family fun. We’ll have a bike safety demonstration for kids outside, and information, giveaways, and the announcement of our poster contest winners (see below for information on the poster contest).

Feeling creative? Want to win free bike gear? Jump in and create a poster to help promote bike safety. Guidelines can be picked up at the Guilderland Public Library or Altamont Free Library beginning May 1. Winners will be announced on May 31 at the Guilderland Public Library during our workshop and information session (see above).

Chess Club
Fridays 6:30-8:30pm

Join us at the library every Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 for our informal chess club. Participants are not required to attend every week, but boards and pieces are provided for anyone interested! If you're interested in finding out more about local tournaments, then check the Eastern New York Chess Association http://www.enyca.org for more information.

baby sittingLapsits
Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning October 1st, 2007

Lapsit Storytime is a special storytime designed for children 6 to 36 months old and their parent or caregiver. This program will offer fingerplays, songs, and simple stories for you and your child to enjoy together. It also offers a great opportunity for new parents to meet other new parents! Registration is required.
Three sessions will be offered this year.

Morning Sessions: Afternoon Sessions:
Session 2: January 7 - March 10 2008 Session A: January 28 - March 10 2008
Session 3: March 17 - May 19 2008 Session B: March 24 - May 19 2008

Registered Storytimes
Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 10:30 am beginning October 1, 2007

Children attend without caregivers and make new storytime friends. Open to children ages 31/2-5 years old. Registration is required. Registration for storytimes begins September 1, 2007.

Mother-Daughter Book Group
Thursday, May 15, 7:00pm

Sharing a book is a great way to keep the lines of communication open as your daughter (or the favorite young woman) grows. Sign up with friends or met new families that connect through a love of reading.

Moms, aunts, step-moms, grandmothers and girls in grades 5 through 7 are welcome to sign up to read an interesting adventure, Running Out of Time, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Registration begins April 1.
