Reading Connections is a book club for teens and their parents, and a collaboration between the Guilderland Central School District and the Guilderland Public Library. Everyone will read three books over the course of three months, and each month, there will be a book discussion at the Guilderland Public Library. The parents will meet with GPL Teen Services Librarian, Trevor Oakley. Students will meet separately with FMS Librarians Mrs. Dicker or Mrs. DiMaggio. Then if the group wants, everyone will come together for a discussion involving everyone! It’s a great opportunity for families to explore the rich diversity of great books for teens, full of exploration, humor, teen issues, and fantasy! Plus, the group will be part of an exclusive visit with author, Joseph Bruchac, whose book, Code Talker: A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two, we’ll be reading! See below for titles and schedules for the Middle and High School groups! Thursday, January 12th, 7 pm: Initial meeting where our first book, Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements is handed out. Groups will meet and get to know one another. What would you do if you woke up and you were no longer there? Thursday, February 15th, 7 pm: First book discussion of Things Not Seen.
