Library Expedition

Castleton Public Library

Unique Features and Facts:

  • Our building was originally built as a school in 1866 and once had a bell tower on top! Classes were held here through the mid-1920s.
  • We loan cake pans, fishing poles, and metal detectors. Anyone with a card from a UHLS library is welcome to borrow them.
  • We're just a half-mile away from Schodack Island State Park.

Local Food:
The Store, just two blocks from the library, serves ice cream, pizza, and sandwiches, and offers a convenience store for drinks and snacks. For those looking for a sit-down meal, the Village Inn offers burgers and sandwiches in a friendly and relaxed tavern atmosphere.
