Library Expedition

Altamont Free Library

Unique Features and Facts:

  • We're housed in the renovated 1897 Altamont Train Station. Many features of the train station remain, including the original ticket window, etched with the "D&H" logo of the Delaware and Hudson Rail Line.
  • Through the summer and early fall, we host a farmers market several days of the week.
  • While you're in town, check out the Altamont Museum in the Streets, a self-guided walking tour of some of the notable features of this unique and historic village. Brochures to guide you can be picked up at the library.

Local Food:
The Home Front Café is right across the street and everyone in the Capital District should eat at this living museum at least once. Village Pizza is also great, as is Hungerford Market for bagels and sandwiches.
