  • AllRefer Health - A medical and health information resource containing outstanding database of health articles and reference materials. AllRefer Health has extensive information from trusted sources on over 4,000 topics including diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, surgeries, nutrition, poisons, and special topics. There is also focus on family and community health. AllRefer Health is updated daily.
  • American Academy of Pediatrics - This site provides a wealth of information related to the health, safety, and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
  • American Cancer Society - Provides a wealth of information on the early detection and treatment of cancer, and how to live with cancer. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, the "Treatment Decision Tools" can help you to determine your best treatment options. Use it to make informed decisions with your physician.
  • American Diabetes Accociation - This site provides information about the causes and treatment of diabetes. The mission of the American Diabetes Accociation is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
  • American Heart Association - Learn the warning signs for America's No. 1 killer. Take a "Risk Assessment" quiz to see how you stack up.
  • Ask Dr. Weil - The Narvard-trained internist and alternative-medicine guru offers just what you'd expect on his site: advice on herbal remedies and dietary supplements, information on alternative treatments from acupuncture to rolfing, and a Q&A section that offers alternate perspectives on topics such as allergies, cancer, depression and sexual health.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Browse "Health Topics" from A (Acanthamobea Infection) to Z (zoster). Get the latest on health related "Hoaxes and Rumors." Check out the travel sections to find out if you need vaccines for trips abroad, or find a link to your local State Health Department.
  • Doctors Disciplined in NYS - The NYS Department of Health's "Information for Consumers" section links to a report of professional misconduct and physician discipline.
  • Food and Drug Administration - The place to go to learn about safety recalls on drugs, cosmetics, and foods. You can also get the latest on newly approved medications coming to a pharmacy near you.
  • Go ask Alice - Factual, in-depth, straight-forward, and nonjudgmental information to assist in decision-making about physical, emotional, and spiritual health from Columbia University Health Education Program.
  • Health Central - The latest health news, plus basic information on many aspects of medicine and health, developed by Dr. Dean Edell.
  • Health Finder - A guide to reliable health information by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Healthopedia.com - A medical and health consumer information resource containing comprehensive and unbiased information in patient-friendly language from trusted sources on over 1,500 health topics, 70 focussed health centers, and more than 11,000 drugs and medications.
  • Kids Health - Pediatric medical experts nationwide provide information about growth and development, nutrition, immunizations, lab tests, medical conditions and illnesses, and treatments.
  • Medline Plus Health Information - A source of up-to-date, quality health care information from the world’s largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. Search here to learn about the side effects of your prescription or what to do if you miss a dose. This site is for anyone with a medical question and provides access to extensive information about specific diseases and conditions. It also has links to consumer health information from the National Institutes of Health, dictionaries, lists of hospitals and physicians, health information in Spanish and other languages, and clinical trials.
  • Merck Manual - The consumer edition of this manual offers easy-to-understand information on complex diseases. Take the "Medlquiz" to test your knowledge about anatomy and medical discoveries.
  • National Institute of Health - Move from the National Cancer Institute to Mental Health to Alternative Medicine. Log on to clinicaltrials.gov to obtain information on federal and private medical studies involving patients and others at thousands of locations nationwide.
  • NCQA - The National Committee for Quality Assurance is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to evaluate and report on the quality of the nation’s managed care organizations. Type in your zip code for the companies offering health plans near you. A related site, Health Grades, rates hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and a variety of other health organizations.
  • New York State Hospital Profile Website - Highlights important information on hospitals for consumers. Such information includes each hospital's available services and licensed beds, quality of care measures, volume and types of procedures performed, and contact information.
  • Physicians' Desk Reference - Offers drug information, health news, clinical trial information, and information about doctors, as well as the Getting Well Network.
  • RxList Want to know more about the drugs your doctor prescribes for you? Search through San Francisco pharmacist Neil Sandow's online index, with information on thousands of drugs and herbal supplements. There's also an archive of the pharmacist-drawn, surprisingly clever Internet Drug Comix.
  • Shape Up America - Provides the latest information about safe weight management, healthy eating, increased activity and physical fitness.
  • Sleepnet.com - Everything you wanted to know about sleep but were too tired to ask.
