Walter A. Wood Machine Manufacturing Co.
(Other historic names:
Wood Flong Co., Lydall Co.
Currently: Interface)
12 Davis Street, Hoosick Falls, NY

Factory

This mill, built in the mid 1800s, started out as the Walter A. Wood Machine Manufacturing Co. It was purchased in 1929 by the Wood Flong Corp. which produced a matt used in the printing industry for stereotyping.

Later, in 1980, it was sold to the Lydall Co. which produced boxboard, industrial gasketing, and thermal insulation. This fine mill is still in operation under the name Interface, which purchased it in January 2000. It's best selling product is automotive gaskets.

The tall black watertower can still be found overlooking the mill and is said to be one of the few still left standing in our area.
